Hi, I’m Chanelle Dupuis.

I’m an author and translator with a passion for writing. As a PhD student in French and Francophone Studies at Brown University, my dissertation project is focused on smells in dystopias in 20th and 21st century French and Francophone texts.

From Québec, Canada, my poems describe my home town and bring to life the spaces that are important to me. I am currently working on a poetry collection titled L’abeille dans ma poche and a short novel titled These letters that we send.

My dissertation project, titled Close Smelling Atmospheres: Odors in 20th and 21st century French and Francophone Dystopias (1988-2025), examines the role of odors in 20th and 21st century French and Francophone dystopias. It explores various novels and comic books to highlight the important role of smell in world-building and imagination.
